Your Verizon bill is higher than you were quoted.
You signed up for one price and the wireless bill came in higher. That gap almost always comes from a handful of lines on the bill. Here's where to look, what Verizon's own pages say, and how long you have to dispute it.
The lines to check on your Verizon bill
- The Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge, per line. Verizon says it "isn't a tax, it isn't required by law… and it is kept by us." Check the amount on your own bill. source
- The Regulatory Charge goes from $0.21 to $0.26 per voice line on November 1, 2026. source
- The Auto Pay discount needs Auto Pay and paper-free billing, paid by bank account or Verizon Visa. It starts with the next bill cycle after you enroll, so your first bill may not have it. source
- Device payments on top of the plan price, and promo or trade-in credits that haven't posted yet.
How long you have to dispute
Verizon's agreement doesn't give a day count, but to keep your right to small claims or arbitration you must send a written Notice of Dispute, and you keep paying while it's open. source
What to do, in order
- Get your proof together: the order confirmation, chat transcript or screenshot of the quote, and your first two or three bills.
- Call billing and point to the exact line that doesn't match the quote. Ask them to fix it and note the account. Write down the date, the rep's name and the ticket number.
- Put it in writing inside the dispute window above.
- Still stuck? File a free FCC complaint at fcc.gov/complaints or 1-888-225-5322. The FCC says the provider must respond in writing within 30 days. source
